Panwali Kantha is a heavenly serene meadow in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas, which offers you one of the rarest views of the complete range of Gangotri, Kedarnath mountain peaks.
At a height of 3500 meters (11,500 ft), the trek is a 5 Days / 4 Night moderate trek in the Garhwal range of the Himalayas but can be completed in 4 Days.

Panwali Kantha Trek starts from Ghuttu. Ghuttu is a small village in the Tehri-Garhwal region at an altitude of 5,100 ft. On the first day, we’ll be starting early for the pleasant drive towards Ghuttu. We’ll have our breakfast on the way. After reaching Ghuttu, we will start our trek.
We will be crossing a bridge, and continue on the ascending trail. We will pass the beautiful rhododendron (locally called burans) trees which bloom with bright red flowers in the season.
It takes 4-5 hours to reach the beautiful camping site of the Panwali Valley Trek, Gaurmanda. From this point, you can catch the glimpse of the Buransh Forest which spreads as far as you can see, like a red carpet.
The Sunset from this camp is amazing and after enjoying it, we will stay and rest here for the night.
The trek to Panwali Kantha is an easy one. The trail gradually ascends towards the beautiful meadow of Panwali Kantha. The trail can be difficult, and slippery, depending on the snow and weather conditions.
After an hour, you will reach the Pobhagi campsite. After crossing the forest near Pobhagi, the trees start to thin and you start to get views of the mountains. You can even spot the Panwali Top in the distance from here.
Keep walking on the trail, and you’ll spot peaks like Joanli and Gangotri III on your left. This is just the beginning of the amazing views though. The Panwali Kantha temple is just a small distance from here. You start spotting peaks like Trishul, Haathi Parvat, and Nilkantha on your right.
We will be camping in the meadow of the Panwali Kantha for the night.
We’ll start our trek to Panwali Kantha Top early morning to catch the sunrise. It’s a short trek. Once you reach Panwali Top, you are bound to be amazed by the views of some of the highest mountains of Uttarakhand.
You can see the early morning sun hitting the mountains like Kedarnath main, and Chaukhamba right in front of you. It is a sight that you will definitely cherish for a long time.
After spending some time at the Panwali Top, we will start descending back to the campsite. Once we reach, we’ll have some snacks and start retracing our steps back to the Gaurmanda campsite.
Here, you can rest and sleep after having a delicious dinner.
Today is the last day of the trek and we will be starting early.
After an easy and comfortable trek, we will reach Ghuttu and here, the Panwali Kantha trek ends.
From Ghuttu, we’ll board our vehicles for Dehradun, and enjoy the rest of the drive with a lot of fresh memories of the trek.
Panwali Kantha is an all-season trek, meaning you can do it in any season, and it’ll be just as beautiful. But here’s what you’ll find in each season:

Autumn – Avoid the crowd
Summer – Pleasant weather, star-watching at night
All participants are expected to be confident that they are physically and mentally fit and able to complete the itinerary of their chosen event as defined in the itinerary.
Any minors between 10 and 17 years of age must accompany their parent or guardian who assumes full responsibility for them to participate in the adventure activity or event. Any unaccompanied, underage minor will not be allowed to participate in the adventure activity.
