  • Guided Trek
  • Easy Trek
  • Start: Manali
  • Altitude
    Altitude : 4270 m

The Hampta Pass is a stunning sight to behold. At 14,000 feet, it is one of the highest mountain passes in the Himalayas. This pass provides stunning views of both the lush green valley of Kullu and the barren landscape of Lahaul. It is truly a unique experience to be able to see such different worlds in such close proximity.

When standing on top of the pass, one can’t help but feel a sense of awe at the natural beauty that surrounds them. It is an unforgettable experience that will stay with you long after you’ve left.

The Hampta Pass is Himachal Pradesh’s own Valley of Flowers. The landscape is strikingly similar to the famed Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand – a green, narrow valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains – but with a key difference.

Once you cross over the Hampta Pass and enter the other side, you’ll be met with an altogether different, and equally stunning, landscape. This is the Spiti Valley, known for its barren stretches, rugged terrain and deep blue skies.

The trek from Kullu to Hampta Pass is thrilling and exciting, with dramatic changes in scenery as you make your way up the mountain. The trek is a great adventure, full of nervous excitement as you climb over many ledges, always seeming to be getting closer to the pass but never quite sure until you reach it.

In short, the Hampta Pass Trek is a must-visit for any nature lover looking to experience the best of both worlds – from verdant valleys to arid deserts.

Day one of the Hampta Pass trek promises to be an exhilarating journey. As we embark on our adventure from Manali, we are eager to explore the distinct terrain that lies ahead. The first leg of our journey covers 15 kilometers by vehicle and takes us through hairpin curves and bends, providing us with a breathtaking glimpse of the Beas River in the valley below.

Our first stop is Jobra, located at an altitude of 2,743 meters. We settle down here for a brief moment before embarking on a 3-kilometer trek to our next destination – Chikka. As we set foot on the trail, we are greeted by a lush green forest filled with maple, deodar, and oak trees. The cool breeze brushes against our faces as we take in the surroundings.

We soon come across a rustic wooden bridge, and we cross it with ease, basking in the beauty of our surroundings. After crossing the bridge, we continue walking beneath the shade of the trees for another 1.5 kilometers until we reach a valley that leads to Chikka.

The trail begins to ascend gradually, and we are now surrounded by moist logs and boulders on either side. As we climb higher, we come across small flowers and shrubs that add to the vibrancy of the surroundings. The sound of the river gushing nearby is music to our ears, and we spot horses grazing along the way.

After two hours of trekking, we finally arrive at our first campsite of the trek – Chikka. We are greeted by picturesque views of snow-capped peaks and open meadows. The campsite is surrounded by towering mountains and verdant forests, and we can’t help but feel entranced by the beauty of our surroundings.
