The infamous Bhrigu Lake is the place where Maharishi Bhrigu is believed to have meditated. It’s a beautiful alpine lake that remains frozen during the winter season.
Bhrigu Lake Trek is one of those rare treks which takes you to an altitude of 14,000 ft and brings you back to civilization – all within 3 days. That makes it the perfect weekend trek from Manali.
Let’s talk about the views? As soon as you start your trek from Gulaba, you enter a vast meadow filled with wildflowers within 10 minutes of the trek. You can see Mt. Hanuman Tibba and Seven Sister Peaks right behind you. You can see amazing views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar range all through the trek.

The Bhrigu Lake Trek starts with a beautiful drive to Gulaba village. The distance from Manali to Gulaba is approximately 22 km. It will take us a couple of hours to reach the road-head for the start of the trek.
The road-head for the Bhrigu Lake Trek is a little farther from the main Gulaba village. We’ll drive to the road head. Get ready to trek from here.
For the initial part of the trek, we’ll enter the forest and start ascending towards the vast open meadows. You can notice some of the most prominent peaks like Mt. Hanuman Tibba behind you, and the famous Solang valley.
The trek is a continuous ascent for 4-5 hours to reach the Rola Kholi campsite. The Rola Kholi campsite is at 12,500 ft so make sure that you keep drinking water throughout the day, and keep yourself hydrated to acclimatize properly.
We will start our trek towards Bhrigu Lake today. You will see the change in landscape because of the high altitude as you move closer to the lake. The trail is on mix terrain of boulders, scree and stones so you will need to be cautious while trekking. You will also find snow on some sections of the trail.
Once we reach the mesmerizing Bhrigu Lake, you will be amazed by the views of the frozen lake, and the beauty surrounding it. Make sure to climb the ridge above Bhrigu Lake, you can see the entire trail of the Hampta Pass Trek from the ridge.
We will spend some time at the lake and have our packed lunch. After a small break, we’ll retrace our steps back to the Rola Kholi campsite. We’ll be staying at the same campsite for the night.
Today is the last day of this amazing trek. After breakfast, we’ll start to trek back to Gulaba. It will take us around 4 hours to reach the road. The trail is continuous descent. In the monsoon, the trail gets really slippery so you will need to be extra careful while descending.
Once we reach the main road, we will drive back to Manali. You can expect to reach Manali by 5 PM at the latest.
The best time and season to do Bhrigu Lake Trek is in the monsoon and post-monsoon season. It is one of the rare treks which you can do in the monsoon season.
The best time to do this trek is from July to October months.
All participants are expected to be confident that they are physically and mentally fit and able to complete the itinerary of their chosen event as defined in the itinerary.
Any minors between 10 and 17 years of age must accompany their parent or guardian who assumes full responsibility for them to participate in the adventure activity or event. Any unaccompanied, underage minor will not be allowed to participate in the adventure activity.
