Kedarkantha Trek from Mumbai

The Kedarkantha trek in Uttarakhand is extremely popular among beginners. It is an ideal trek for someone wanting to set foot into the trekking world.

For someone who wants to take on the exciting Kedarkantha Trek from Mumbai, here are the routes you can take and plan out your journey to the Sankri base camp.

The trek begins from the Sankri base camp and climbs up to 12,500 feet. During the trek, you are always accompanied by mighty peaks of the Himalayas including, Mt. Swargarohini, Mt. Black Peak (Kalanag), and Mt. Bandarpoonch. You may also encounter several fresh-water streams en route.

Starting in Mumbai you can take the following routes to reach Dehradun —

  1. Take a direct flight to Dehradun.

  2. The other route is via Delhi. You can take either a train or flight to reach Delhi.

From Delhi, again you have a few options to reach Dehradun.

  1. You can take a cab/taxi to Dehradun (249 km). The road from Delhi to Dehradun is in good condition.

  2. Or you can take a train from Delhi station to Dehradun. The available train includes— DDN JANSHTBDI (12055), DEHRADUN SHTBDI (12017), DEHRADUN EXP (19019),  NANDA DEVI EXP (12205), and MUSSOORIE EXP (14041. Almost all these will reach Dehradun by the morning.

From Dehradun to Sankri basecamp (198 km), you have the following options to choose from—

  1. Take a local bus to Sankri

  2. You can also take a shared cab if traveling alone or a private cab if traveling in a group. You can easily find a cab outside the railway station.

  3. If you have booked to travel with us, we will pick you up at Dehradun I.S.B.T at 7 am and expect to reach Sankri by evening.
