The Everest Base Camp Trek is an incredible journey through some of the world’s most beautiful and rugged terrain. Located in the Khumbu Valley of Nepal, this trek takes adventurers to the base camp of Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth. Trekkers will experience stunning views of snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, and traditional Sherpa villages along the way. The round-trip length of the trek is 130km, which is spread over just short of two weeks of trekking.
The best time to go on this trek is between October and November or April and May when the weather is milder, and there are fewer chances for rain or snowfall. You can expect to cover around 15 km over 5/6 hours of trekking each day during this time. The trail passes through a variety of terrains, including alpine surroundings at the south end of Sagarmatha National Park, scree-covered ridges, high passes, and glaciers as well as tea house stays where you can meet locals.
You will reach Gorak Shep (5160 m) at its peak before continuing to Everest Base Camp (5364 m). Here you will be rewarded with panoramic views that will take your breath away. You may also have an opportunity to climb Kala Patthar (5644 m), a nearby peak that offers even more spectacular views.

On the morning of Day 2, you will take a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The third day of your trek is the most challenging, as it requires ascending a steep hill to Namche Bazaar. You will be trekking for around 5-6 hours, so ensure you have enough energy and water to last the day.
As you start your trek, you will walk along the Dudh Kosi River, a beautiful sight. The path is mostly flat and easy to walk on, so it won’t be too strenuous. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages where you can take a break and enjoy local snacks or drinks.
The highlight of today’s trek is when you reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. Here, you will get a fantastic view of Mt. Everest in the distance and other peaks such as Lhotse and Nuptse. This is an excellent opportunity to take some pictures and admires the natural beauty of Nepal’s Himalayas!
After entering the park, your next stop will be at Monjo village, where park officials can check your permit before continuing on your journey. After this, it’s only another hour or two until you reach Namche Bazaar – one of the most popular stops for trekkers heading towards Everest Base Camp.
Namche Bazaar is a bustling town with plenty of restaurants and shops where you can buy souvenirs or restock supplies for your trek ahead. It also has some great views of Mt. Everest in the background, so take some time to appreciate it!
At this point, it’s important to remember that altitude sickness can start affecting people at higher altitudes, so make sure to drink plenty of fluids and rest to acclimatize properly. After you have enjoyed the town and taken some pictures, it’s time to rest up for the following day.
Your fourth day of trekking is a designated acclimatization day, where you will stay in Namche Bazaar and take some time to rest and adjust to the new environment. This is an important step; it allows your body to adapt to the higher altitude before continuing on your trek.
On this day, you can take a short hike up to the Everest View Hotel, where you will get a stunning view of Mt. Everest and other peaks in the surrounding area. You can also explore Namche Bazaar and visit some local shops or monasteries.
On this day, it is essential to stay hydrated, as altitude sickness can occur due to a lack of fluids. Make sure to stay relaxed, as trekking at higher altitudes can be physically and mentally exhausting. With proper rest and hydration, you will be ready for the next day of your journey!

The route from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche is one of the more misleading days on the trek. While it may seem short, it is a challenging trek with steep ascents and descents.
The trail begins in Namche Bazaar and ascends to 3,867 m at Tengboche. The total distance is 9.2 km and can take anywhere from 3-4 hours, depending on your pace. Along the way, you will pass through several villages and have stunning views of Mt. Everest and other peaks in the Himalayas.
One of the highlights of this day is visiting Tengboche Monastery, which sits atop a hill overlooking the valley below. This monastery is home to Buddhist monks who practice meditation and offer blessings to visitors who make pilgrimages here. It’s also a great place to take photos as you can get fantastic views of Ama Dablam and Mt Everest.
As you make your way up towards Tengboche, you will be surrounded by lush forests filled with rhododendron trees that bloom in the springtime, adding even more beauty to this already stunning landscape. You may also spot some wildlife, such as yaks or mountain goats along the way, so keep your eyes peeled!

When you wake up the following day, you will be ready to tackle the trail from Tengboche to Dingboche. Starting from Tengboche, you will make your way through ancient forests and cross an exciting bridge with the boiling, roaring Imja Khol beneath your feet. The walk is lovely and takes you through some ancient forests. Cross the river and then make the gradual ascent to the village of Pangboche, home to one of Nepal’s oldest monasteries.
The trek between Tengboche and Dingboche is different from what we have been to. First, we are going at a higher elevation, so the landscape changes dramatically as we ascend. You’ll be surrounded by fantastic mountain views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam that will take your breath away! The trekking distance between Tengboche and Dingboche is about 5-6 hours, depending on how fast you go, but it’s worth taking time to enjoy the scenery around you.
Once you reach Dingboche, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Mt. Ama Dablam towering over the village below. This small village has a few lodges for accommodation and some basic amenities like shops where you can buy snacks or souvenirs for your journey ahead. There are also plenty of opportunities for exploration in this area, such as visiting nearby villages or exploring trails leading up to higher elevations if you’re feeling adventurous!
From crossing an exciting bridge with Imja Khol beneath your feet to being surrounded by stunning mountain views – this day has it all! So don’t forget to take lots of pictures along the way so that you can remember this incredible journey forever!
You’ve made it to Dingboche, and now it’s time for an acclimatization day. This is a necessary step in the trek, as your body must gradually adjust to the higher altitudes. Take this opportunity to explore the area around Dingboche and take some time to relax and enjoy the scenery.
You can start your day with a hike up to the nearby Nangkartshang Peak, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Mt. Everest and other peaks in the Himalayas. Or, you can stroll around Dingboche, visiting some of its quaint shops or exploring the nearby ancient monastery.

The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche is one of the most challenging parts of the Everest Base Camp trek. As you ascend, you will pass through a stark landscape filled with glaciers and moraine, leading up to rocky terrain – all while Mt. Everest looms in the background.
The views from Dingboche to Lobuche are some of the most spectacular on the entire trek. You’ll pass through stunning valleys and get close to Khumbu Glacier – home to Everest Base Camp. The altitude gain is 647 meters, so take regular breaks to catch your breath and admire the scenery.
The terrain can be pretty challenging in parts, with steep ascents and descents and loose rocks and boulders that can make it difficult to keep your footing. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes with good grip and watch out for any signs of altitude sickness – if you feel unwell, don’t hesitate to take a break or turn back if necessary.
When you reach Lobuche, take some time to explore the village and soak up the atmosphere. There are plenty of tea houses where you can relax after a long day’s walk, as well as souvenir shops where you can pick up a memento of your trip. Don’t forget to try local dishes, too – there’s nothing like a hot bowl of dal bhat after a long day’s trekking!

EXCELLENT69 reviews onRishi RaghavAugust 10, 2023.We were a group of 9 to trek to the Kashmir Great Lakes with Advenchar in the first week of August, 2023. Swena was kind enough to accommodate us at the last minute since our trek to Tarsar Marsar was cancelled at the last minute with another company. Being a small group, we were able to start early in the morning, cover the hard sections before the sun came up & reach the campsite well before the evening rains. We were guided by Neil from Advenchar through the trek who is as well versed with the mountains as one can possibly get. The local Kashmiri team fed us to our hearts content. Bajjis, gulab jamoons, soup, kawa, sooji ka halwa was what I relished the most during the evening snacks. Mountain stories from Neil, crystal clear weather during the trek, the camaraderie among the co-trekkers & the ever helpful team made the pretty pretty KGL trek all the more memorable. Only disappointment was the trash at Vishnusar & Ganagabal campsites. Wished we had camped further away at these 2 sites. But the remaining 4 campsites were clean & beautiful. I would definitely do my next trek with Advenchar! Thank you for such a wonderful & beautiful experience!Sheryl -August 6, 2023.It is my first time trekking in India & I chose Advenchar for their positive reviews & small batch sizes. The team also patiently answered the many, many questions I had & were always available. True enough, I had a great & smooth experience with the KGL trek. The guides & helpers were experienced, knowledgeable & helpful. The trek timings were well planned; we often set off earlier & managed to avoid the rain. The food was delicious, varied & planned according to the trek. The tents were of high quality, withstanding the evening rain. Overall, I would recommend Advenchar, a huge thanks to them for everything. πNeetha Sharma BAugust 5, 2023.karthik bAugust 5, 2023.This is my 1st trek with Advenchar. I really enjoyed the KGL Trek .
