Ghepan Lake Trek is a hidden gem nestled in the Lahaul region of Himachal Pradesh. The trek to this mesmerizing alpine lake is a treat for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The trek starts from Sissu village, which is one of the remote villages of Lahaul-Spiti, located on the banks of the Chandra River.
The trek offers breathtaking views of barren mountains with snow-covered peaks surrounding you, glacial waterfalls coming down from these mountains, and lush green meadows dotted with wildflowers. The trail takes you through dense forests of oak, pine, and deodar trees, offering a refreshing break from the scorching heat.
Ghepan Lake is a hidden neon-blue glacial lake that is unknown to even many local guides. The lake sits deep inside the valley and can be reached after a moderate-level trek. The crystal-clear water of the lake reflects the surrounding snow-capped peaks, making it a sight to behold.
The Ghepan Lake Trek is an easy trek that can be completed in two days. The best time to visit Ghepan Lake Trek is from June to September when the weather remains pleasant and favorable for trekking.
To reach Ghepan Lake Trek, one needs to first reach Manali and then travel to Sissu village from where the trek starts. Manali is well connected by roadways and airways with major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla.
The lake is situated at an altitude of 4140M, and it is a really awesome offbeat alternative to more crowded treks like Hampta Pass and Bhrigu Lake.

Today is the last day of this amazing trek. We will be retracing our steps back to civilization. Don’t forget to look back and admire the beauty of the valley.
